Helicopter Spins Uncontrollably into Palm Fronds at Frequented California Beach

A helicopter soaring above a crowded southern California beach unexpectedly began spiraling out of control, eventually losing altitude and smashing into a row of palm fronds as beachgoers looked on.

Recordings shared online depict the chopper commencing to spiral above the beach then falling near the edge of the coast, where it ends up lodged among palm trees and a set of stairs close to the Pacific Coast highway.

First Aid Update

Emergency responders said five persons were rushed to the hospital including two individuals who were in the aircraft and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” after the accident on that day.

Three persons on the road were injured. Specifics on their condition were not yet released.

What led to the incident was still under investigation.
