NFL Roundup: Broncos Mount Late Comeback Against Eagles, Baltimore Endure Record Home-field Loss

Broncos Overcome Eagles in Thrilling Finish

Denver's quarterback found an 11-yard scoring throw and JK Dobbins contributed a two-yard ground touchdown in the fourth quarter as the Broncos erased a two-touchdown disadvantage to hand the Philadelphia Eagles their first loss of the campaign. Denver's defense deflected the Eagles quarterback's final pass on the game's concluding play to hand the Super Bowl champions to just their second defeat in their previous 22 outings. Denver (three wins and two losses) got fortunate in their rally when the Philadelphia had a late fourth-down conversion called back on an illegal shift penalty called on running back Saquon Barkley.

Houston Texans 44–10 Baltimore Ravens

Houston's quarterback passed for 244 passing yards and four touchdowns, and the Texans (two wins and three losses) strolled to a decisive victory over a depleted Baltimore team, equaling both the most lopsided road win in the franchise's record books and the worst home defeat in Ravens' history. Baltimore (one win and four losses) were missing two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, and that was not their only problem. Defensive standouts Kyle Hamilton, Roquan Smith and Marlon Humphrey all were absent, and the Ravens already were depleted on defense because of a cervical issue that concluded the defensive lineman's campaign. Baltimore were also missing Pro Bowl blocker Ricard and tackle Ronnie Stanley.

Colts Rout Raiders in One-Sided Affair

Jonathan Taylor ran for three touchdowns and a two-point conversion, and Daniel Jones threw two touchdown passes as the Indianapolis Colts routed the Raiders. The 34-point margin was Indy's biggest since 2013. The quarterback finished 20 passes out of 29 attempts for 212 yards and improved to 4-1 as a starter this season, surpassing his total wins over the previous two years with the New York Giants. The running back rushed 17 attempts for 66 rushing yards and caught three receptions for 20 receiving yards. Indianapolis converted multiple takeaways into touchdowns. The Raiders dropped to 4-1.

Dallas Cowboys 37-22 New York Jets

Dallas' quarterback threw four scoring throws, leading the Cowboys to an easy victory over the Jets. The Cowboys scored on two 90-yard drives in the second period, even with being without key linemen on the offensive line. The running back gained 135 rushing yards and a touchdown and also hauled in a receiving touchdown. Dallas, now two wins, two losses, and a tie, rebounded from a 40-40 tie against Green Bay last week. New York are still without a victory at zero wins and five losses in their new coach's first season as head coach.

Minnesota Vikings 21–17 Cleveland Browns

Vikings receiver Addison caught a short touchdown pass from the quarterback with 25 seconds left to give the Vikings a win over the Cleveland Browns at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. This methodical march gave the Vikings (three wins and two losses) a crucial victory on their overseas journey, which began with a narrow defeat to the Steelers in Ireland last Sunday. It also spoiled the rookie's first NFL start, as the Browns rookie put his team (1-4) in position to win by throwing two touchdown passes. Fellow rookie Judkins gained 110 rushing yards on 23 carries. The quarterback shook off an arm issue that briefly sent him to the locker room and led two touchdown marches in the latter half.

Miami Dolphins 24-27 Carolina Panthers

Carolina's quarterback threw for two touchdowns and Rico Dowdle ran for 206 yards and a score as the Carolina Panthers rallied past the Miami Dolphins in Charlotte. Young's short pass to the first-year receiver with under two minutes to play gave the Carolina (two wins and three losses) the lead for good as they equaled the largest comeback to secure victory in team history by overcoming a 17-point hole. Young had a poor start, but he finished 19-for-30 passing for 198 yards with an interception. The backup, replacing the sidelined starter, did his damage on the run on 23 attempts, coming up just short of matching the single-game franchise rushing record. Miami's quarterback threw 27 of 36 for 256 passing yards with three touchdowns and Jaylen Waddle gained 110 receiving yards on six catches and scored a score, but the Dolphins (one win and four losses) fell to zero wins and three losses in away contests.

Saints Secure First Win Under New Coach

Spencer Rattler threw a long touchdown to Rashid Shaheed, defensive back Howden scooped up a loose ball 86 yards for a touchdown, and New Orleans defeated the error-prone Giants for the Saints' first victory under rookie coach Kellen Moore. The QB earned his maiden win in 11 professional starts, throwing for 225 yards without any mistakes. Giants rookie QB Dart, who won his debut last week, threw for 202 yards and two scores, but also committed errors three times. The Giants gave up possession on five separate plays in all, with none worse than when the defender stripped running back Cam Skattebo, leading to the safety's TD. Each squad are one win and four losses.
