Unveiling an Unique Steam Demo: Guiding a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and gamers have discovered plenty of engaging creations from small studios. However, one catches the eye for its unconventional concept. Called Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure features a protagonist that is truly a turd trying to travel to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

The gameplay is straightforward: press a jump control. Throughout numerous levels, battle tough enemies and unlock a shop to buy skins for your fecal avatar.

Plan your actions with caution, as a error forces restarting the level. Jump using bubbles to propel yourself to new heights, traverse crumbling ledges, and touch switches to open hidden paths. Collect coins to purchase challenging game content as the action ramps up.

In terms of design, the game shows off eye-catching stages and an amazing background music. The simple visual style of moving geometric shapes may remind fans of classic titles like Earthbound.

Although hard to think of previous releases where you are a piece of feces, video games often included fecal matter. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can craft throwables from protagonist droppings. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use feces as plant food. And of course, fecal references is present heavily in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already received notable recognition, including taking top honors at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. A playable preview is available at present on Steam, with the complete version scheduled to launch on Steam on November 19.
